SURE PRogram Description
Our 10-week internship offers students an opportunity to explore the disciplines relating to plant molecular biology/biotechnology. Interns will conduct independent research projects under the guidance of faculty sponsors. Research may involve laboratory and/or field work depending on the project. Sponsors will provide students with unique opportunities to learn techniques of scientific research. Each intern is required to give an exit presentation describing the accomplishments of his/her internship experience.
Interns will also have the opportunity to explore the area surrounding the campus where their internship program will be held. The Columbus campus is situated in an exciting urban setting with the variety of cultural activities and nightlife you would expect from a large metropolitan area. The Wooster campus is in a rich agricultural area on the edge of Amish country, surrounded by beautiful Northeast Ohio landscapes with several state parks within easy driving distance.
Students participating in the SURE program receive a taxable stipend of $4,000 for a 10-week internship experience. Expenses that are the intern’s responsibility include room, board, and transportation.
2011 Internship Opportunities will be posted beginning January 29, 2011
